I am a wife, a mother of three young adults, and a life-long learner. For my first career I was as a software engineer and developer, working in a number of diverse industries including an engineering consultancy, an internet search startup, and a major Boston hospital. But church has always been an important part of my life and God's call has been prodding me for many years.
I was born in the United Kingdom to a solidly church-going family. Attending church and Sunday School (two of them: Methodist and Church of England) was a natural part of my upbringing. In 1987 I moved to the United States with my husband. We have lived in the Boston area since that time, raising three children. I became a citizen of the United States in 2009.
When we moved to the United States we began attending the Harvard Epworth Methodist Church in Cambridge, MA. Our older two children were baptized there. But when we moved to the town of Sherborn, MA, a 45 minute drive from Cambridge, we realized we needed to find a local church. When our oldest child was 3 years old we began attending Pilgrim Church (UCC) in Sherborn.
Since that time my family has been active in Pilgrim Church and I have served in many various ways including: preaching and leading worship, celebrating communion by means of a temporary license, and providing sabbatical pastoral coverage; designing and leading retreats; serving as Co-moderator and Moderator between 2008 and 2011; authoring and circulating a weekly "Circle of Prayer" email message for approx. 7 years; and serving on the Pastoral Search Committee that called our Senior Pastor in 2007.
I began studying at the Andover Newton Theological School (ANTS) in 2008 as a "special student" and graduated Master of Divinity with honors in May 2015. During my time at ANTS I served as a CIRCLE fellow (Center for Interreligious and Communal Leadership Education) and Co-facilitator of the interfaith Prison Justice and Ministry group. During the academic year 2012-2013 I took Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale, MA. The following two years I engaged in Field Education, first at the First Congregational Church, UCC, in Stoughton, MA as Student Pastor and then I took Advanced Field Education as Ministerial Intern at Old South Church, UCC, in Boston, MA.
I was called to the Wollaston Congregational Church (UCC) in Quincy, MA as settled pastor in September 2016, and I was ordained as a Christian minister by the United Church of Christ on September 25th, 2016. Wollaston Congregational Church is a small, welcoming and mutually supportive congregation housed in a large historic church within walking distance of the Boston subway system. At this time we are actively welcoming new members.
During my free time I enjoy exploring the world with my family: meeting new people, enjoying different kinds of food, and learning about other cultures. Over the past few years we have visited Turkey, Egypt, India, Russia, as well as England. Closer to home, I enjoy walking our exuberant dog, Pippi, on the trails near our house and cooking nutritious meals for my busy family.
